Aparentemente a última edição da Empire Magazine tem informações novas sobre como será a comunicação entre Smaug e Bilbo. Eu digo aparentemente, pq não vi nenhuma imagem da revista com o trecho que colocarei abaixo. Se for verdadeira, a informação encerrra a dúvida sobre o assunto

Achei estas especulações bem interessantes:

• Open in Bree (just before Gandy heads for Bag End and Thorin heads north)?; Thrain is mentioned, flash-back to Azanulbizar from a new perspective; follow mad Thrain as he's encountered by Gandy in the depths of Moria, gives Gandy the map and key before being attacked by Orcs (and brought before the Necromancer)?; flash-back to to Bree with Gandy saying something to Thorin about not failing should he encounter Thrain again, then resume with our company as they set out for Beorn's house.
  
  Or, too complicated? Might just be the Azanulbizar stuff, (funny how both the second LotR and TH films both seem to open with a Moria-related flash-back, revisiting a scene from film 1).
  
  
• One could also imagine this as the root of the look some have suggested Azog gives when he sees Gandalf and the look Gandalf gives when Thorin proclaims Azog dead. Perhaps, in the movie, they met not in Dol Guldur but in Moria. Gandalf enters searching for Thrain, and drives off the orcs holding him prisoner, Azog among them, but is forced to leave at the coming of a far greater, older and fouler foe (not a full reveal, of course) than Azog and his orcs. One can imagine him telling Thorin, "I tried to save your father, but he was witless and wandering, and already near to death, and something more terrible and powerful than the orcs came against me... a terror still reigns in Moria: Durin's Bane. I was already weary, and not prepared for a test of strength against such a dreadful foe. If I was to fullfill Thrain's wish, an uncertain battle with the Terror or Moria could not be risked." ...

@Almáriel: Aparentemente do capítulo 7 (Estranhos alojamentos) até o capítulo 15 (Fogo e água). Isso sem contar as cenas extras envolvendo Gandalf e Radagast em High Fells (ou enterraram - what!? - os Nazgûls) e Dol Guldur.

O pessoal do Herr Der Ringe chamou a atenção para a diferença de Erebor mostrada nos 3 trailers até agora. A dos 2 últimos é mais ameaçadora do que a mostrada no 1º. Vejam o anexo.

Eu achei interessante que em 0:28 aparece um painel com os destinos. Alguns são conhecidos e fazem sentido no universo da trilogia nova: Hobbiton, Mordor, Mirkwood, Esgaroth, Dale-Hills, Lake-town (que até onde eu sei é a mesma coisa que Esgaroth), Iron Hills, Trollshaws (onde Bilbo encontra os trolls) e Carrock. Outros lugares, no entanto, aparentemente ainda não foram citados no filme. Será que é uma dica? O painel fala sobre Rhudaur (Galadriel fala sobre "High Fells of Rhudaur", onde o Rei-Bruxo foi enterrado pelos Homens do Norte), Forodwaith (?), Enedwaith (?) e Sea of Rhun.
